Airbus Industrie partners remain at odds in their views on the consortium's long-overdue single corporate entity. In addition, behind-the-scenes disagreements cloud the newly launched A318 twinjet and the proposed A3XX very-large-transport airplane's schedule and final assembly responsibility. The planned Airbus stock company, which was scheduled to replace the French-law industrial grouping on Jan. 1, remains on hold. Although the delay does not restrain the consortium's quest for a stronger market share, it could slow its plan to launch the $11-12-billion A3XX program. Late last year, in the midst of intense disagreements regarding the European aerospace industry's envisioned cross-border restructuring, the partners failed to exchange company valuations needed to prepare for the single corporate entity.
