RC airplane modelers are a diverse bunch of guys. There are all sorts of fliers involved in electrics and you'll find all sorts of batteries in their field boxes. Some have fully embraced modern LiPo and LiFe technology while others are still in love with their Ni-Cd and NiMH packs. Of course, if you have a powered field box for your nitro-burning planes, chances are, you have a gel-cell or a lead-acid battery needing recharging. If you're like me and you have all sorts of battery types in your airplanes, then the new Super Brain Instinct 965 from MRC is going to be something you'll want to check out, The Instinct 965 is a very user-friendly charger that has only three buttons to operate. It is designed to charge from 1- to 3-cell LiPo, Li-Ion, LiFe batteries, 1- to 8-cell Ni-Cd and NiMH packs, and up to 12V lead-acid and gel-cell batteries. It has charge rates of .05 to 6 amps and can automatically detect the number of cells in your pack. Being an AC/DC charger, it comes with AC and DC power cords with alligator clips so you can easily use it in the workshop or out at the flying field, and its backlit LCD screen is very easy to read.
