The GWS P-38 is an authentic-looking, electric-powered replica of the Lockheed P-38 Lightning-one of the classic Allied fighters that saw action in both theaters of WW II. Nazi combat pilots feared the P-38, calling it the "fork-tailed devil," partly because it had five machine guns in its nose, concentrating the firepower straight ahead (rather than converging somewhere in front of the wings, as a single-engine fighter's guns would). In addition, the P-38 Lightning could provide the long range necessary to escort and protect Allied bombers on many of their missions.
