This paper presents a digital reaction--diffusion system -- a model of discrete-time discrete-space reaction- diffusion dynamical systems -- for intelligent signal processing applications. Using the theory of multidi- mensional digital signal processing, one can systematically design various digital reaction-diffusion systems performing specific signal processing tasks. As an example, this paper describes the design of an adaptive digital reaction-diffusion system for restoring complete fingerprint images from blurred ones.
