The UK Post Office - Post Office Limited - has notified Cogent Systems of its decision to award the supplier a substantial contract to provide integrated biometric data collection services. The award followed a competitive tendering process and is potentially the largest international order in the supplier's history - estimated at greater than US$50 million over three years, according to Lazard Capital Markets.rnMeanwhile, the Belgian National Police also awarded the company a contract (see Box), along with the US Army.rnCogent's president and CEO, Ming Hsieh, commented on an earnings call (transcript provided by Seeking Alpha): "I'm pleased to announce two major new custom ers that we are disclosing the first time on this conference call. First, we won a major contract with the Belgian National Police, increasing Cogent's presence in Europe where our technology is already being used by other European Union countries. We will provide the palm print and fingerprint identification system replacing [Print Right], whose system was implemented over 10 years ago.
