Around 40 section members and guests braved a cold January evening to visit Heineken Manchester. Heineken UK has recently invested £55 million at their Manchester site to upgrade the plant and expand brewing capacity to from 3.5 to 5.5 million hL per annum. Members were given a short presentation on the history of brewing at the site, which started in 1875, right up to the present day and the reasons for the expansion.
