Industry body Alcohol Beverages Australia (ABA) has made a thoughtful contribution to a recent debate regarding the composition of the Alcohol Working Committee (AWC), which advises the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) on the revision of guidelines for responsible drinking. ABA has requested 'an urgent review of the make-up of the AWC, due to serious concerns that in its current form, it is unable to appropriately review stakeholder submissions and evidence and provide advice that is impartial and free from bias.
