Five vapour phase corrosion inhibitors were evaluated for their inhibition characteristics with four commercial metals. The minimum dosage required for mild steel protection, the influence of sulphur dioxide contamination, and durability were also investigated. Of the relatively new inhibitors, diethyl ammonia caprylate performed the best.
