The former executive director of the Utility Consumer Advocate's office in Alberta, David Gray, gave a dire warning, stating that the province will be "crushed" by skyrocketing electricity and natural gas prices.rnHe pointed to the Alberta government removing programs that had protected consumers from rising prices, and the lack of any real competition in the retail marketplace. In fact, he called the move to go ahead with deregulation without solving the current problems a "catastrophe" waiting to happen.
