摘要

A known state of equipment health is a prerequisite for optimal loading to maximize economic return on equipment. Based on statistics, one out of ten transformers will develop a fault within the next sixteen years. How can that fault be detected and diagnosed in time to minimize the impact on system performance? The majority of faults are slow to develop and can be detected by periodic DGA testing [CIGRE TF 15.01.01]. Slow degradation of the insulating fluid can be detected, and action can be planned ahead of time. A yearly round of data gathering and equipment evaluation is well-justified. To perform adequate condition assessment, we have to obtain and analyze information from all possible sources, i.e., from dissolved-gas analysis, visual inspections, fluid quality tests, and electrical tests. A number of criteria and rules must be applied in the context of both current and past test data. The condition assessment must take all the different kinds of test results into account and reach a global conclusion for each piece of equipment.
