The study of planning after catastrophe, and after the Second World War in particular, is not new - in fact there has been something of a growth industry in this field since the mid-1980s especially as reconstructed buildings and areas are themselves under review for potential redevelopment (or, sometimes controversially, protection). This has been a sustained interest, continually providing new perspectives on newly-uncovered or newly-interpreted data. Diiwel and Gutschow continue this research tradition in a lavish new volume. By any standards, it is something of an epic production. It weighs over 2 kg, with 415 pages of 245 x 300 mm.
