Our members and readers certainly remember that a project was launched in August 2013 to explore the feasibility of IALA becoming an Inter-Governmental Organi-zation.The benefits of such a change of status are many for both IALA and its Members, especially National Members.AI-though the technical expertise of IALA and its counselling nature will remain the same, the organization will be entrusted with more power in international instances and its current National Members will face fewer difficulties when sending their funding contributions to the organization and attending meetings. Referring to, and implementing IALA standards will also become easier, due to the new nature of IALA as an IGO. And, last but not least, IALA and its Members will be free from the demanding but also restrictive legal framework that govern associations in France.
