摘要

The gastropod mollusc Hexaplex trunculus is very common on the Tunisian coasts. Although edible, this species is not caught regularly. To promote its exploitation, we have studied the relative growth, geographic distribution, biomass and abundance of this species in the Bizerte lagoon. The sampling was carried out in August and September 2002. The different parameters of the linear and ponderal relationships were analyzed using the Student-t test, at the 5% level of probability. During the same period, 181 sampling stations were defined in the lagoon to study the abundance and biomass of Hexaplex trunculus. The sampling was carried out using a Van Veen grab. A quadrat was used at the coastal stations. The evaluation of the biomass and abundance was made over the whole lagoon area, by station, by size class, and by station/size class. For the linear relationships and for the total length relationship, we found positive allometry. However, considering the total weight and the total length relationship, the growth was isometric. Hexaplex trunculus showed a negative allometry for the total weight-width and total weight-length (without siphon) rela-tionships. The geographic distribution of Hexaplex trunculus, and the locations of high abundance and biomass values, showed that this species is most common in the eastern part of Bizerte lagoon. The total abundance was evaluated at 3.05 xlO~9 individuals, and the biomass at 18,279 tons.%L'étude de la croissance relative du mollusque gastéropode Hexaplex trunculus récolté dans la lagune de Bizerte, a été réalisée.
