摘要

The older I get and the longer I teach, the more concern I have about the totality of education and connections among the disciplines. In particular, I have "discovered" the importance of engineering to our lives. Rather than viewing it as an abstract field based on complex and even somewhat mysterious calculations, as one is wont to do when teaching technical writing, I have had a small epiphany: that engineering is an environment. Whether we like it or not-and whether we understand it or not-the fruits of engineering ingenuity define how we live our lives.
