Each year, resorts in the United States experience a shortage of workers to fill unskilled positions during peak seasons. Most turn to H2B workers and J-1 visa holders to fill the gap at their resorts. The H2B visa program permits employers to hire foreign workers to come to the United States for a maximum of 9 months to perform temporary nonagricultural work that is one-time seasonal, peak load, or intermittent. The H2B program is often used to recruit workers for entry-level positions in hotels and restaurants with seasonal business.
