In this paper we have tried to examine certain aspects of internationalisation processes. We have studied a case concerning a Swedish company recently bought by an American competitor. Some traditional Swedish virtues, norms and values have been identified in order to provide us with a background to the changes that can be discovered by studying the purchase. Our purpose has been to identify what influence the new ownership has on the ethical values and virtues of the Swedish company. According to our interpretation we believe that there are small signs that can be seen as expressions of a new Anglo-Saxon shareholder oriented model that is gaining ground at the expense of a more traditional Scandinavian stakeholder model. However, the change is not to be seen as dramatic. The acquisition seems to be legitimate in the eyes of the Swedes for several reasons. Perhaps the most important of these is a relative correspondence of values held by the two companies.
