This is the fourth in a series of articles describing the people and their duties at Jersey Canada and The Canadian Jersey Breeder. This month's article covers the responsibilities of Russell Gammon, Executive Secretary and Andrew Vander Meulen, Assistant Executive Secretary. Since beginning with the Association in 1981, Russell has become a highly visible and well respected representative of the Breed. By the time he assumed his duties as Secretary (and latterly Executive Secretary) in November, 1985 his energy and enthusiasm ensured that Jersey Canada was not easily overlooked, much less forgotten. When we remember that Jerseys comprise less than 5% of the dairy cattle population in Canada, this visibility is a great asset, and takes the Association a long way in ensuring that issues of importance to the breed are addressed.
