When Rob Leighton joined Thompson Candy in 1995, he left a career in management conulting and electronics to discover the brave new world of chocolate. Then, Thompson Candy was a small, struggling producer of seasonal foiled novelties closely tied to the RCI community. "We had great products and a great tradition, but selling only seasonal novelties proved to be a difficult business model," he explains. Supported by an investment group, Thompson slowly expanded its product offering to become an important producer of a wide range of moulded chocolate products.
