Remember when a chocolate bar was just a chocolate bar? When caramel, nuts and nougat were the most unusual ingredients one could find? Today's chocolate bars still prominently feature chocolate, but in many ways that's the only similarity they have to the traditional bars. New chocolate bars feature dark chocolate full of fla-vanols and exotic ingredients from infused teas to Mexican chilies. While the old favorites still exist in great numbers, this new breed of confection challenges what consumers traditionally think of when they picture a chocolate bar.
