The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) published the Library Reference Model (LRM)~1 in August 2017, which is the consolidation of the separately developed conceptual models: Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD), and Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Data (FRSAD). According to the explanation on IFLA's website, "IFLA LRM was developed to resolve inconsistencies between the three separate models. Every user task, entity, attribute and relationship from the original three models was examined, definitions had to be revised, but also some remodeling was required in order to develop a meaningful consolidation. The result is a single, streamlined, and logically consistent model that covers all aspects of bibliographic data and that at the same time brings the modeling up-to-date with current conceptual modeling practices."2 It is considered that significant remodeling was carried out to consolidate the three preceding models, while their core conceptual framework for viewing the bibliographic universe remains. IFLA also provides details on differences between LRM and the three preceding models in the accompanying document entitled "Transition Mappings."3 LRM is a high-level conceptual model developed within and represented by the entity-relationship (E-R) modeling framework and is designed to be used in linked data environments. This model comprises a set of definitions of entities, attributes, relationships, and user tasks, which thus make up the LRM vocabulary.
