Recognizing that effective inventory management leading to superior customer service is absolutely critical to their success, department store retailers are seeking to maintain detailed inventory data, and are far more willing to share this with suppliers than are their peers in other retail categories. For example, 90% of the department store retailers surveyed are sharing inventory levels at various points in the year with their vendors. Plus, 67% are sharing this on a weekly basis, with all doing so at the sku level. In addition, 80% indicate that they plan to share even more information with vendors in the future.
