New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2012.I reviewed David Rothkopf's previous book, Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making, in the March-April 2008 issue of Challenge. There he observed that 20 to 50 leaders in any given field, who know each other personally or through an intermediary, for whom an issue is critical, make the decisions about what we do. These leaders, numbering about 6,000, are a changing group of the superwealthy, corporate and financial moguls, generals, politicians, and religious leaders. Rothkopf has observed this sphere personally.
