BMI View: China receives a score of 58 out of WO in BMI's 2018 Defence Risk/Reward Index, ranking it first out f the 14 Asia Pacific states. China's overall score is indicative of its continued strong investment into its defence sector, with a long-term horizon of sustained spending. While there will be increasingly limited opportunities for foreign players in the future, due to China's drive to become less dependent on foreign states for its military hardware needs, opportunities still exist. China's overall RRI score reflects the country's commitment towards greater civil-military integration, large-scale modernisation of military divisions and high defence spending amid an elevated risk of regional conflict.
