It's here, like it or not. European legislation—Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)—went into effect on July 1, 2006. While this new legislation has been difficult enough for many in the electronics industry, perhaps more daunting is the road that lies ahead. Implemented as a "green" directive, devoid of scientific evidence, the lead free movement has spawned some incredible challenges for the electronics manufacturing industry.
