By the end of December 2007, more than 100 Eclipse 500 very light jets had been built by Eclipse Aviation. ETIRC Aviation, an existing distributor for the aircraft, purchased a large stake in Eclipse Aviation in early 2008 and now plans to open a plant in Russia to build jets for European and Russian markets. In April, Eclipse reported a backlog for the Eclipse 500 that was 2,600 units strong. Certification of the Hawker 4000 was achieved in November 2006, but no deliveries of the new business jet will be made until 2008. The aircraft is set to compete with the popular Bombardier Challenger 300. NetJets and NetJets Europe account for 82 orders out of an estimated 108-aircraft backlog.
