The initial results of the most extensive seismic testing ever conducted of live loads on bridges appear to indicate that the presence of trucks improves bridge performance during an earthquake. If confirmed by further modeling, the findings of researchers from the University of Nevada at Reno will help to allay concerns that the presence of trucks on a bridge during an earthquake could increase the risk of damage.
