The need for well-qualified engineers could not be more critical-the world is faced with complex problems that affect the quality of life of everyone everywhere. And, as I note in previous chapters, businesses around the globe are crying out for more "well-rounded" engineers who can take on leadership roles. At the same time, paradoxically, the public's perception of the engineering profession is on a downward spiral, as is the enrollment of young people in engineering schools.
