Few of us have not, at some point, been taken aback by the sheer quantity of unnecessary packaging used for a consumer product, or the variety of different materials used to contain it. But there is something of a sea-change happening. While we've heard manufacturers and retailers talk for a number of years about their desire for more sustainable packaging, there now appears to be an accelerating shift in focus for many businesses, transforming it from a corporate aspiration to a pressing commercial priority.
