A student from the UK has won the international James Dyson Award for her easily biodegradable plastic made from fish waste. Lucy Hughes won the UK heat in September, before beating 27 designers from other countries to take the international prize, worth £30,000. Her invention, MarinaTex, is a strong, translucent and flexible bioplastic, which makes it a possible candidate to replace single-use packaging, such as plastic bags and wrappers.
