It's fair to say that plenty has changed since 2010. Having just waved goodbye to a decade in which the climate emergency became the primary global issue for many, the 2020s promise to be a period when the waste and resources sector will become fundamental to meeting the challenges of developing a more circular, low-carbon economy. Growing public awareness has propelled what we do with waste from a relatively minor local authority special interest to a fundamental part of the environmental debate. The proposals in the government's resources and waste strategy reflect a sector that is facing significant change and opportunity over the coming decade, as the country works towards its climate emissions targets. We asked key industry players what they expect for vehicles, plant and machinery, and how they expect technology, systems, processes and innovation to help deliver that transformation.
