Living in Scotland for the last six years, it has been great to be part of a nation prepared to demonstrate such ambition in improving its environmental performance. This has been facilitated to a high degree by the Scottish Government's resolve to create a legislative and regulatory framework to support this ambition. The latest regulatory development came into effect on 1 January 2016, when we saw the threshold for the separate collection of food waste fall to just 5kg per week. At William Tracey we have been encouraging our customers producing smaller volumes of food waste to comply with the 5kg target since the Zero Waste Regulations were first introduced in January 2014 and, as a result, we don't anticipate a huge increase in volumes, which is perhaps fortunate given that I am not sure Scotland currently has the infrastructure to manage a further hike in tonnage!
