Portable column lifts have been around for ages, so I'm guessing this story won't take too long! The general idea is not to spend a large chunk of budget on having an inspection pit excavated in your vehicle workshop floor (then spending the rest of your professional life worrying about how to stop someone absent-mindedly falling into it by mistake). Neither is it to commission a fixed four-poster hydraulic lift, which then turns out to have been "fixed" in the wrong place either (don't laugh, a mate of mine has made that very mistake). But instead you have four, or more likely six, mobile column lifts that can be wheeled into position wherever they're needed.
