There are many things stakeholders in the UK waste sector disagree on, but one area of consensus is the need for better quality data. However, public sector austerity points to a future in which there is likely to be less, not more, data available in the public domain - as evidenced by the switch from quarterly to annual reporting by Defra. Whilst researching other markets, it has become apparent that for most northern European countries there is a readily available source of national data on the energy from waste (EfW) sector - produced generally by either the regulator or trade association.
