In the next decade the UK will face an energy gap, as well as increasing costs for imported energy. With this in mind, there is a developing focus on the potential for generating energy from waste. ClWM's Energy Recovery Award looks at the positive contributions made to the recovery and utilisation of energy from waste streams, in order to help recognise and further the potential of this under-utilised stream. The award's 2014 winner was ReFood UK, the company that provides businesses of all sizes a solution to divert food waste from landfill sites and use it to improve green credentials. It is the food waste recycling arm of SARIA, which has a number of operations across the whole food chain in the UK, including farm collections through to post-consumer food waste.
