The sad starting point for the surge of new business that has recently impacted on busy Bedfordshire-based Brite Sparks is a result of the inevitable consequences of a commercial vehicle (made of bits of metal) coming into contact with a soft fragile object (like a human being) riding a pedal cycle in overcrowded urban environments with poor traffic segregation. "Impact" being the inevitable consequence when one of those two parties does something the other wasn't expecting. The recent CLOCS event at London's ExCeL has this inevitable consequence at the heart of its campaign and while, personally, I'm concerned about the "single issue pressure group zeal" behind many of the outpourings, I'm even more concerned about the vehicle and transport industry trade groups, like the SMMT, the RHA or the IRTE. Why? Because, so far, they've done absolutely nothing to counterbalance that zeal, or voice operator's concerns about cost, complexity and yet more rules and red tape.
