ESA has written to Defra Minister, Rory Stewart, urging him to retain the current legal requirement for premises at which significant quantities of hazardous waste are produced to be registered with the Environment Agency (EA). Andrew Elliott, of Castle Environmental Ltd, who chairs ESA's Hazardous Waste Strategy Group, wrote to the Minister in early August expressing ESA members' concerns that a decision appeared to have been taken to scrap this requirement on "better regulation" grounds.
