Small and medium-sized firms working in the waste disposal industry were given a lift in George Osborne's Emergency Budget, which announced that the Annual Investment Allowance (AIA) had been extended at a higher than expected rate of £200,000. Despite being a reduction from the current rate of £500,000, setting the allowance at this amount will continue to provide much needed support to many businesses that would otherwise have been hurt by the huge planned cut in the allowance to just £25,000.
