When a person comes into contact with a moving machine, the human being will undoubtedly come off worse. And, as Health & Safety Executive accident figures so graphically show, a significant number of people are still being killed or seriously injured every year after being struck by a moving vehicle, or item of mobile plant. Modern machines have been designed to provide better all-round visibility and the use of reverse alarms and cameras has helped to reduce accidents. But when individuals have to work in close proximity to machines - as on construction sites and in waste transfer stations - it's all too easy for them to become blase to the risk of potentially deadly situations.
