A study of the members of the Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment (INCPEN) has shown that their commitment to sustainability continues to grow. The study, Driving Sustainability, conducted by AEA Technology, shows that companies now recognise that sustainability is about more than simply environmental improvement. "It is no longer enough for a company to rest on its laurels by claiming high recycling rates, or the use of low energy light bulbs," INCPEN stated and, on average, each of its members had reduced waste by 7.7 percent, water consumption by 5.3 percent and CO_2 emissions by 1.8 percent each vear, since its previous report in 2006.
