You're well known within CIWM as chair of the ROI Centre, a general councillor and a trustee, but what do you do for a "real job"? I'm an Executive Engineer in Waste Management (Operations) supervising and managing the recycling operations of the Council in Cork. I'm directly responsible for the operation of five civic amenity sites and over 85 bring site facilities. This involves working with site managers and their site staff, co-ordinating and supervising the procurement and award of materials processing tenders; liaising with the processors with regard to service issues, contractual compliance, material quality and ensuring compliance with Repak requirements, preparation of financial expenditure budgets and tracking income versus targets; co-ordinating site operations and materials collections and keeping abreast of technological advances.
