WEST COUNTRY-BASED waste and recycling contractor, Viridor, has recently taken delivery of three new Volvo rear-end loaders built not to the traditional four-axle "eight-legger" format with twin-steer axles at the front and a dual drive bogie at the rear, but as a "tridem" rear bogie. That is to say with a twin-axle duai-drive bogie with an additional steering axle directly ahead of the first drive axle.All three chassis are powered by the 13-litre Volvo diesel rated at 420hp, driving through a Volvo "l-shift" automated transmission. "Big Bite" compaction equipment by Heil has also been specified by Viridor.
