Washington—The Platts US aluminum Trans- action premium hit a more than 2-year low of 12.75 cents/lb plus LME cash on Monday, amid lower transactions and indications, despite a $34/mt cash-to-three months contango on the London Metal Exchange. A trader was bidding 10 cents and offering low-profile sows/T-bars at 12 cents, delivered US Midwest, net-30-day payment. A second trader had an indicative offer at 11 cents delivered US Midwest, net-30-day payment and bought a large tonnage at the equivalent of Platts Transaction April average less 4-4.5 cents.
