I found the article on Waste Assessment in the British Isles (CIWM, May 2010) very good and the input from Duncan Laurence in relation to Ireland was very thorough. Ireland is a country that is totally out of step with the rest of Europe on matters of integrated waste management, however, and I present some thoughts below:rnIreland is very over-reliant on landfill, with the amount going to landfill on the increase. Despite the progress in recycling, little progress has been made to change how we manage residual waste, and we continue with an over-reliance on landfill.
