The Recently-opened Scotgen Dargavel energy from waste facility can certainly lay claim to being the newest such facility in Europe. Just a few weeks into its operation it has already established itself as something of a demonstration plant, despite having had to overcome some significant hurdles along the way.rnThe site for the plant was not, in fact, specifically chosen by Ascot; rather we took over the interest in land that had already been granted planning permission for a pyrolysis technology that didn't come to fruition. This meant that while much of the legwork had been done, there was no chance of establishing the site in amongst ready-made customers... we had to go and find the customers and bring them to the site, making us the "chicken that laid the egg". In addition to the initial lack of customers, the site is also without a connection to the sewerage system, but these obstacles have been overcome and Scotgen Dargavel stands as a testament to the principle that if it is good enough, you will succeed.
