Wastes Management recently attended the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Waste Group's Producer Responsibility Summit 2003 in Westminster. Below is an abridged version of Patricia Hewitt, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry's address to delegates which formed part of this highly informative day. I was brought up in a family of natural environmentalists, long before the Green movement became a part of all our lives... One of my father's favourite sayings was 'waste not want not!'. Nothing got thrown away unnecessarily, everything was recycled, the compost bin was a joy - all of that.
