Everybody wants to see clean and safe environments as well as a greater sense of community in neighbourhoods across the UK. So could BIDS ― or business improvement districts ― where everyone from shopkeepers to major industry joins together and pays an extra levy for services to clean up and patrol their area be the answer? Dee Bingham, ENCAMS Policy and Practice Development Manager, recently visited four American cities to see if what has been learned in BIDS areas over there could be applied here.
