WRAP (the Waste and Resources Action Programme) is busily building the additional capacity to deliver a series of new programmes it has been asked by Government to deliver in England, following the recommendations of the Strategy Unit's report Waste not, want not at the end of last year. These programmes, previewed early in the summer, focus on three key areas: waste awareness, household waste minimisation and recycling, and composting best practice, summary details of which are available on the WRAP website. The combined package of programmes is part of a larger series of initiatives from DEFRA to improve England's municipal recycling performance and begin to reduce the burden of waste going to landfill, all of which falls under the umbrella of the Waste Implementation Programme (WIP).
