In October last year the family company Kiilto Oy, which produces products for the chemical industry, started up the biggest solar power station in Finland. In a good summer there is enough sunshine at Lempaeaelae, near Tampere, and not even in the gloomiest winder is it desperately dark. In Finland solar panels have become commonplace rapidly in boats and cottages, but solar power is hardly used at all by industry.
