Sea-Bulk, the affiliate of Belgium-based stevedoring and logistics group Sea Invest that controls the Norvrac mineral bulk terminal (QPO) in the Port of Dunkirk, is targeting deepsea coal shipments for German power stations. Coal-fired power stations in Germany are increasingly dependent on imports as the country's mines are progressively shutting down and, despite recent mild winters, this has led to an increase in coal imports for Germany over the Rhine seaports, moved inland by rail and barge.
