Ronald Reagan's 1980 election represented the apex of the conservative intellectual movement's political success in America. While historians have thoroughly examined the movement's effect on domestic American politics, international historians have been more reluctant to evaluate conservative intellectualsâ influence on Reagan's foreign policy.
